Heart and Soul
My love for story telling through pictures and words began in Mr. Ventura’s third grade summer school. My first drawing, a peculiar spaceman with horns and curlicue eyes, danced from my pencil and onto my page. I was enthralled. Reading the silly story I wrote about him to the class had them and me laughing hysterically. I was never certain if all the kids frolicking was the result of my own kooky creativity, or how much I blushed as I read it out loud, but I was hooked.
I continued studying creative writing and art in high school and college. I wrote short stories, picture books, and esoteric poetry. I majored in fine art, falling in love with lithography while learning how to draw and paint. Along the way, my infatuation for guitar and music enabled me to express myself with words and music to over seventy songs. While I still play and sing for pleasure – illustration, painting and storytelling are at the heart of who I am.
Education and Career
After earning my Bachelor of Arts degree from UCSB, I began a brief stint working as a draftsman for a civil engineering firm. I began my career in the graphic arts designing brochures and marketing collateal for HIEBERT Inc. I’ve provided creative services (on and offline) for over 25 years helping corporations, outside agencies, in-house marketing, sales departments and small businesses be memorable in their individual marketplaces.
I founded iDig Design (aka iDig Creative) in 2001. iDig Design is a graphic design agency. We offer marketing campaigns, art direction and graphic design across the full spectrum of print, web and multimedia projects. I am very proud of the work I’ve done (and am still doing).
